Don't want to give anything away, so I'm not including pictures of the awesomeness, but... I found these super-awesome table number-holders on Etsy, for $20 a pop plus shipping... Ugh. But so pretty! I decided maybe I could make them, for about $4 apiece. I was worried that the holders, made mostly of thin wire, would end up looking like a tangled ball, but the first one turned out pretty perfect! These are gonna be so fun. Artistic and such. I'm actually not sure how the chic on Etsy ships hers, considering how thin the wire is -- they are pretty delicate, and even light tissue wrapping could mutilate them. For that matter, I don't know how I'm getting the one I made here at work all the way home in the morning, or how I'll store 10+ of them for the next 9 months... But so pretty!
Also (forgot to mention this last week) we mailed out the save-the-date magnets last Monday, which is probably why you all found the website. Yay!

Got my dress, made save-the-dates
My house (and my job) had no electricity most of Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. That made the week super fun. Alex DID have electricity (lucky for him) and I spent most of the weekend up there, as I usually do. Plus my car has air conditioning, unlike my house, so I didn't mind driving around so much. Which brings us to wedding stuff...
Tuesday I went to David's Bridal and picked up my dress. So pretty! Can't wait to wear it :) I am gonna be GORGEOUS. Seriously.
Moving on, tonight Alex and I went through the pictures Tina has finished (find all of them on Facebook!) and chose the ones for our Save-the-Date Magnets, which we then ordered. We should get them in the next week or so, and soon thereafter, all of you should see them in your mail. (Email us if you think we don't have your address yet!)
Also, tonight or tomorrow I'm going to put a bunch of Tina's pictures on the wedding website so they're easier for people to flip through.

So much already done!
Let's start with a little bit of backstory... I started dreaming of my wedding at some point in my childhood. The first time I really started making firm plans, I was about sixteen. I knew that I was going to get married in April 2010, when I was 25, and my flowers were going to be lilacs. I was going to have a corset-backed custom designed (BY ME) dress. I don't really remember much else I decided, but the dress fell by the wayside eventually. (Have you ever priced out doing that?? It's ridiculous!)
Nevertheless, the month and flower have been set for quite a long time. The rest of the plans have fallen into place fairly quickly, mostly because at work I'm bored in front of the internet so often.
We booked out venue by the end of March. We knew what the menu was going to be by right around then, too. I had some loose ideas for flowers (bouquets and centerpieces). I had surveyed the David's Bridal website and picked out my two absolute favorite gowns, along with my favorite bridesmaid dresses. I started to survey cute save-the-date magnets and pretty invitations. I knew everything I wanted.
Last week, Mom, Michelle, and I went to David's Bridal, and I tried on seven different dresses, just in case my favorites didn't look as good on me as they did on the models. Turns out, they look better on me. I ordered the very first dress I found months ago... Guess I know myself pretty well. It's perfect and I can't wait to wear it for Alex.
Today, we had our engagement photo shoot. Yes, on Father's Day (sorry, Dad!) but it was the only day that worked for us and our photographer (Tina Staffieri). We went to Cascade Falls at Patapsco Valley State Park, and took a bunch of pictures in and around the falls. That's right, I said IN. I have a very sodden dress drip-drying at home right now. I have high hopes for these pictures and as soon as I get some of them, we'll be putting together our save the date magnets and mailing those out. They're pretty. Alex thinks they're really girly. Well, pbbbbtttttttt. So what? They're pretty.
Excitement!

Why a blog?
So this is (or will be) a blog about everything as we figure it out. Except that a lot has already been figured out, and I'm just starting this blog. Oh well.
Actual news tomorrow.
